Prof. Gillian Triggs, President of the Australian Human Rights Commission, has said that it is now up to us, the people of Australia, to force a change in policy. She is right. The bipartisan consensus on this cannot be broken any other way.

Now is the time. If you have never phoned or sent an email or a letter to your local MP now is the time. If you have done it before, do it again. Now is the time.

“Christians are called to stand against injustice and care for people in need. There are people on Nauru who desperately need our help. Please help end the violence by calling on the Government to close the camp and bring people here for the best care we can offer,” says UnitingJustice National Director Rev. Elenie Poulos.

Tell your MP how you feel about the state-sanctioned abuse that is our brutal response to people who have done nothing more than exercise their right under international law to seek asylum from persecution.
