Exceptions in the Sex Discrimination Amendment Bill

25 June 2013
Exceptions in the Sex Discrimination Amendment Bill

In light of the Sex Discrimination Amendment (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Intersex Status) Bill 2013, UnitingJustice wrote to the Prime Minister and the Attorney-General expressing its support for the removal of exceptions for religious organisations.

As the Bill moves to the House of Representatives, National Director Rev. Elenie Poulos wrote to all members of Parliament recommending that the legislation be amended so as not to retain exceptions that allow discrimination on the basis of sexuality, gender or intersex status for religious agencies which receive Commonwealth funding.
